2016 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Overview

Toyota of Tacoma is proud to bring you the 2016 Toyota Avalon Hybrid, the sophisticated luxury sedan that produces a whopping 200 horsepower and alternates power between the gas engine and electric motor, or mixes them both, when needed, releasing torque through a one-of-a-kind planetary gear-type continuously variable transmission. The Toyota Avalon Hybrid lineup for 2016 has three models: XLE Plus, XLE Premium, and Limited forms.

Continuing Toyota's leadership in hybrid technology, the 2016 Avalon Hybrid is the only hybrid in its segment. This much-awaited line is Toyota's commitment to further improve on current hybrid technology blending form and function to work fluidly using impressive innovations. Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive system provides output from a 2.5L Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine and a high-torque electric motor.

The power that operates both the air conditioning and power steering systems are given electrically and will still run when the car is being driven under electric power alone or when the auto start/stop system shuts off the gas engine.

2016 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Versatility

The 2016 Toyota Avalon Hybrid can operate solely using the electric motor for a limited distance in EV Drive mode with top speeds of about 20 mph. Augmenting the conventional brake system, regenerative braking produced by the electric motor/generator in the transaxle captures the kinetic energy of the wheels, storing it in the hybrid battery. The compact nickel-metal-hydride battery, located in the trunk area, allows a generous 14 cubic feet of trunk space.

As with the regular 2016 Toyota Avalon, the difference between models provide options to consumers which features they prefer to include to their selected hybrids:

The new features introduced to the XLE and XLE Plus are the new standard Entune Audio Plus system with 7-inch screen and Connected Navigation Scout GPS Link, which uses the customer’s smartphone to allow navigation functionality through the head unit.

The XLE Premium includes the Entune Premium Audio with In-Vehicle Navigation and App Suite. It also features Qi wireless charging for compatible smartphones.

The Avalon Hybrid is also designed to be a looker with its enhanced front grille and turn signals. Its carefully designed sexy-smart coupe-like profile, highlighted by gorgeous chrome trim, combines a cabin with enough space for five is intended to make it a class above its competitors.

Features of the 2016 Toyota Avalon Hybrid in Tacoma

The Limited version includes the all-new super chrome alloy wheels – 17-inch on the Hybrid and 18-inch for the gas model. The Limited model also offers the optional Toyota Safety Sense-P system that boasts of a variety of driver-assist technologies: Automatic High Beam headlights, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist.

The Entune Premium JBL Audio with Navigation system uses a 12-channel external JBL Synthesis amplifier and 11 speakers, including two subwoofers.

The Avalon also supports an electronics storage tray in the center console that can store two devices and charge them with jacks located below it. A storage box beneath it can store devices out of sight while they recharge.

Also available for the 2016 Avalon Hybrid is the Toyota Safety Sense-P system features new safety technologies including front-collision avoidance and mitigation systems, lane departure warning, auto high beams, and dynamic radar cruise control. Other Driver-assist features include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert as well as a rearview camera.
