2016 Toyota Avalon Overview

For 20 years, the Toyota Avalon has set the benchmark for the top-tier midsize sedan class. Over the years, the Avalon has seen several changes and advancements while competition has sprouted in the same class. With its latest version, Toyota has come prepared with the 2016 Toyota Avalon, and Toyota of Tacoma is proud to carry it.

The 2016 Toyota Avalon continues the tradition of leading the way by giving two unique suspensions, one that centers around a dynamic and responsive driving experience (Touring grade), the other a high quality and comfortable ride (non-Touring grades). This upgrade includes new frontal styling, an additional model grade (XLE Plus) and added equipment for all grades.

Heeding customer feedback, Toyota provides the choice of Comfort and Touring that will give customers to decide on which handling is preferred. The Comfort configuration was designed to preserve some of last year’s handling response while providing a more accommodating ride. The Comfort set-up will be on 75 percent of Avalons including the hybrid version.

2016 Toyota Avalon Models

The Avalon lineup for 2016 has five models: XLE, new-for-2016 XLE Plus, XLE Premium, Touring, and Limited. The Avalon Hybrid models, on the other hand, will be offered in three: XLE Plus, XLE Premium, and Limited forms.

All Avalons include the standard Toyota’s Entune audio system with a seven-inch touchscreen, while XLE Premium models add tech goodies such as navigation and wireless device charging. The Touring model sports a unique front fascia, LED headlamps, and redesigned dark-gray 18-inch wheels. Limited models also get 18-inch wheels—finished in "Super Chrome" as well as optional safety stuff such as adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, and lane-departure warning.

Make no mistake about it, the Avalon is engineered to be a luxury model. Its carefully designed sexy-smart coupe-like profile, highlighted by gorgeous chrome trim, combines a cabin with enough space for five is intended to make it a class above its competitors. The 2016 model is determined to be a looker, with an enhanced front grille and turn signals, it is certainly a notch or two up from previous iterations.

Features of the 2016 Toyota Avalon in Tacoma

Offered in the gas model, the Touring grade gets its own sporty look with a new grille, LED headlights and LED daytime running lights. Some of the most obvious changes from past versions include the removal of the fog lamps in favor of vertical turn signals with new taillamps and chrome garnishes on the bumper. While it looks good, what sets the Touring grade apart from the rest is its on-road attributes. Its powerful suspension tuning combined with its 18-inch, alloy wheels make the Avalon Touring a luxurious sport sedan like no other.

The XLE Plus is the midpoint Avalon as it is quite a step-up for the gas model and good base grade for the Avalon Hybrid. The new features introduced to the XLE and XLE Plus are the new standard Entune Audio Plus system with 7-inch screen and Connected Navigation Scout GPS Link, which uses the customer’s smartphone to allow navigation functionality through the head unit.

The XLE Premium includes the Entune Premium Audio with In-Vehicle Navigation and App Suite. It also features Qi wireless charging for compatible smartphones.

2016 Toyota Avalon Style

The Limited even raises the Avalon style with the all-new super chrome alloy wheels – 17-inch on the Hybrid and 18-inch for the gas model. The Limited model also offers the optional Toyota Safety Sense-P system that boasts of a variety of driver-assist technologies: Automatic High Beam headlights, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist.

Being the roomiest among all other sedans in its category, the 2016 Toyota Avalon makes it a class on its own. Three interior color themes are available: almond, light gray and black, with the light gray gaining gray accent stitching.

Overall, the 2016 Toyota Avalon line-up is hard to beat when it comes to style, comfort, handling, and power. Toyota listened to its loyal customers and came up with a refined, luxurious ride that is tweaked to achieve the ride/handling balance on the Comfort suspension. A refined chrome interior also reduced distracting reflections in addition to the improved seat comfort and enhanced brake feel. Given the price range and the choices the customer can choose from, it is bound to give its competition a run for their money.
